Facts about Radon
Radon is a radioactive gas that is produced from the natural decay of radium and uranium in our soil. Although radon is present in very low levels in outdoor air, it can build up to high levels in homes and other buildings. When radon enters these enclosed spaces, it can pose a serious health risk to occupants. That's because exposure to higher than recommended levels (4.0 pCi/L) of radon gas is a leading cause of lung cancer. The good news is that radon can be easily detected and remediated. By testing your home for radon and taking steps to reduce your exposure, you can protect yourself and your family from this invisible threat. Know your risk with accurate, expedited testing by Monarch Radon Testing.

Luft may have saved my family from getting lung cancer
My family lives in a low-level Radon area of Florida and I always assumed our levels are safe. That all changed when I plugged in Luft to find that our levels were around 15 pCi/l...
Excellent Product ... exceptional useful
I am grateful for being able to monitor our basement with this device...and being able to simply plug it into the wall is a total bonus.

Frequently Asked Questions About Radon Testing
Radon is a naturally-occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. Radon is inert, colorless and odorless. Most radon exposure occurs inside homes, schools and workplaces. Radon gas becomes trapped indoors after it enters buildings through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Indoor radon can be controlled and managed with proven, cost-effective techniques. Breathing radon over time increases your risk of lung cancer. The EPA estimates that about 21,000 people die each year from radon-related lung cancer. Only smoking causes more lung cancer deaths. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. You can protect yourself and your family from radon exposure by testing your home for radon and taking action to reduce radon levels if necessary.
The uranium in our soil can lead to higher than normal levels of radon. This gas enters buildings through cracks, gaps or construction joints in your home’s foundation and is usually most concentrated near pipes that are exposed outdoors like foundations around water mains.
The EPA recommends hiring a professional, certified radon testing professional to accurately measure the radon levels in your home.
Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can be found in both indoor and outdoor environments. While radon levels vary depending on location, they are typically higher in areas with high concentrations of uranium, like Colorado. In the home, radon levels can fluctuate depending on the time of year. During the winter, radon levels tend to be higher due to the temperature difference between the inside of the home and the outside air. This temperature difference creates a vacuum within the home, which allows radon gas to seep in from the soil. In the summer, radon levels are typically lower due to the higher temperatures and increased ventilation. However, it is important to test for radon year-round to ensure that levels remain safe.
While there are accurate radon home test kits, there are variables to consider. First, there are specific deployment methods and techniques that licensed, certified radon testing professionals ahear to for the most accurate measurements. Secondly, sometimes it is necessary to place more than one test in different locations to get a realiable average of radon concentration and to find out where radon may be entering a home. Thirdly, radon testing professionals offer timely results so you can take action immediately and cause no further delays to a potentional real estate transaction.
